PSCL 390 – Writing & Presenting Research (Spring 2024)
Case Western Reserve University
Picture this: You came up with an interesting research question. Then you planned and conducted the study, analyzed the results, and found something important for your field!
…so now what?
Sharing our findings with the world is one of the most important aspects of science. There are many ways to do this, like writing a formal article or making a poster, and more casual ways like writing a blog or tweet. This course is here to teach students the common ways scientists communicate their research to others.
In the class, you’ll learn the purpose of each communication method and how it’s put together. You’ll also get practice writing and presenting, giving feedback to classmates, and using their feedback for your own work. The goal is to help you figure out the best way to share your findings, making sure they’re clear, accurate, and easy for others to understand.
This course is geared towards individuals that are looking to pursue a PhD in psychology (though should be applicable to other research-oriented disciplines as well).
